When you don’t downsize, what do employees with no work do? Toyota helps us out.
Friday, October 17th, 2008Toyota stopped manufacturing trucks at its Princeton, Indiana plant. So, what to do with 4,000 workers who have no work to do? Toyota has the employees in training, working on their management and job skills. The employees also work together in classrooms to develop more efficient ways to put vehicles together. Toyota will ramp up production again in November, but in the mean time, its workers are still part of the company and are using the time to learn and improve. Downsizing? Nope, at Toyota, it’s upgrading.
